Parent Literacy Workshops
Quick Summary
It is not secret we have a literacy problem across Texas, and Ector County is no exception. We've given the sytem more than enough time to come up with a viable solution yet Texas still ranks in the bottom tier for student literacy. We are no longer waiting for a solution from the top—we’re building a grassroots movement to help our kids succeed.
Our Goals include Introducing Parents to:
- The Science of Reading
- The Five Pillars of Reading
- Basic Concepts of Reading Skills
- Basics on Child Brain Development
- Reading Tools like Secret Stories
- Reading Strategies

Where: Nerd Academy, located inside the Odessa YMCA Learning Center (our entrance is on the west side of the building by the flag poles)
